Wendy Martin Photography http://wendymartinphotography.com/blog Blog Wed, 18 Aug 2010 04:29:58 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.8.1 en hourly 1 Jennifer & Mike are married… Seattle style! http://wendymartinphotography.com/blog/?p=1691 http://wendymartinphotography.com/blog/?p=1691#comments Wed, 18 Aug 2010 04:29:26 +0000 admin http://wendymartinphotography.com/blog/?p=1691 I’ve known Jennifer’s mom for a while now and when it came time for her daughter to get married, she said she’d love have me photograph the wedding… but it was all the way in Seattle.  To which I replied… “Um, I’m there!”  Seattle is one of my favorite places in the world… this was my third time there, and definitely not the last.  It was a fantastic trip… beautiful, uncharacteristically sunny and wonderful.  I spent a few extra days with dear friend and ventured out to the Olympic Peninsula for solo road trip. (yes, I went to Forks… me–>dork) but it was beautiful and much needed!  A tour of the city via duck boat with the wedding party and guests, beautiful Sunday wedding, sneaking in a senior session for my cousin’s daughter, shopping and dinner with a great friend, seeing the snow capped Olympic mountains, putting my toes in the Pacific, lavender fields and gorgeous scenery made for a wonderful trip.

But seriously… this bride was stunning… a classic beauty… they had their ceremony and reception at the very cool Lake Union Cafe.  It was an intimate setting and the love and laughter was a constant presence.  It was an honor to get to know and photograph Jennifer and Mike– these two were made for each other and seeing the emotion on their faces the entire day was such a joy… Enjoy the photographs!

Where to start?  I met Katie and Justin and immediately adored them- such a wonderful and natural couple- they complimented each other so well- it’s just a great feeling to see a couple so in sync, so in love.  I had a blast with them and it’s still one of my favorite engagement sessions — they have a love for Detroit- we did their session there and the reception was downtown as well.

The day was hot- the sun was shining and the day was incredible.  The wedding planning was done by the fantastic Jen House of A Moment in Time , she also did the flowers which looked straight out of a Martha Stewart magazine.  The reception was at the Colony Club downtown Detroit. The awesome Mike Staff Productions did the dj services as well as the videography.   I was honored to have the phenomenal Dustin Francis second shoot with me– he’s just fantastic and we had a great time.

On to the pictures– longest. post. ever.  But I have to say, I’m pretty damn proud of these pics… Enjoy!

]]> http://wendymartinphotography.com/blog/?feed=rss2&p=1642 9 Corey + Danny are married! http://wendymartinphotography.com/blog/?p=1603 http://wendymartinphotography.com/blog/?p=1603#comments Sat, 17 Jul 2010 04:51:21 +0000 admin http://wendymartinphotography.com/blog/?p=1603 I had the pleasure of photographing Corey and Danny’s wedding this June and holy cow– what an awesome event!  The thought and details that were put into planning their day were fantastic— the details, the friends, the love… They had help putting it all together with the fabulous Ana of TwoFoot Creative, I always love working with her!  I brought along Kate Elliot to second shoot with me and we had so much fun.  She’s a fantastic photographer and her style is just like mine- we had a blast!  The wedding was in Clinton Township and the reception was at the beautiful Villa Penna in Sterling Heights.  The DJ was the always awesome Mike Staff Productions.  They keep the dance floor packed and do a fantastic job.  The Tiffany themed wedding was full of wonderful details, from the blues to peacock feathers to the rocking blue heels she wore… I had a great time, Corey and Danny!  Enjoy the pics!

Crew magazine… The wedding was held at the old St. Joe church in downtown Dexter and the reception was at the always elegant Barton Hills Country Club.  Enjoy the photos- tell me your favorites!

Though you can’t tell in these pics, she’s about 30 weeks along and both girls are doing great!  I can’t wait to meet them!  We did these photos in her very cool home studio– she does amazing work and has this incredible set up– it’s been so great to go on this photography adventure with her, we’ve learned from each other and it’s been so much fun to see how her business has grown and she’s developed into this awesome photographer.  Check out her blog!  It’s so nice to be able refer people to each other.  We used to teach together, now we shoot together!  Again, she looks awesome and styled her shoot so well— take notes you preggo mamas!  Her adorable little man Reece did just about anything for a piece of candy— but then again, so would I!

I’ve said it before, but I just love shooting engagements— it gives us a chance to get to know each other, for the couples to see my style of shooting and it makes the wedding day go that much smoother.  When the big day comes, it’s like seeing an old friend!
