I believe that besides the venue, photography should be ranked high on your priority list of what to pay for.  Yes, you can find many, many photographers out there.  Many of whom will cost less.  But you have to remember– what will you have after your day?  Your dress, your memories and your photos.  When choosing your photographer, make sure to ask if they have experience. Do they know how to light a reception?  A church? Do they have the ability to arrange, coordinate and manage large groups of people quickly, efficiently and with a sense of humor?  Herding family members after a wedding ceremony will be the most frustrating part of your day!  A photographer needs to be confident in their ability– as a former teacher, I have the skills to command these groups- and the ability to get it done fast.  You pay for experience.  You pay for quality.  Photography is worth the investment.
